Ganga Quest is a bilingual international quiz competition designed with an aim to sensitise people about the national River Ganga, its significance, its cultural and historical values, its diversity and its ecosystem. The objective is not just building knowledge among participants, but also to connect them emotionally by sensitising about rivers’ present condition and its past reverence.

Ganga Quest, an international online quiz on river Ganga which was first conceptualized in 2019 as an educational and outreach initiative to sensitize and connect children and youth with River Ganga by an NGO TREE Craze Foundation. The concept was duly supported by National Mission for Clean Ganga and received a promising response from all its partners. In 2021 TREE Craze Foundation entered into a MoU with National Mission for Clean Ganga to conduct Ganga Quest for a period of 3 consecutive years. The project shall be funded by World Bank.
Other Partners of Ganga Quest (4.0) 2022 include; The World Bank, Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Ganga Mitra, Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA), Indiaisus, Water Digest, Wildlife institute of India (WII), Ganga Mitra, United Schools Organization of India (USO India), The Wise Foundation, Sashakt Foundation, Center for Youth (C4Y), National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and Ganga Vichar Manch.
As per the data received, this year (2022), a total 0.8 million participants registered from across the globe. Of the total registered participants, 0.12 million took part in the quiz competition. At national level, there were participants from all the states of our country with maximum participants from Jharkhand. At international level, registrations were received from 24 countries this year which was considerably more than last year. India, Saudi Arabia, United States, Oman, Qatar were the countries that engaged the most with maximum participants at international level. This increasing popularity which is not only limited within the country is a great motivation for the organizers and participants alike.
Ganga Quest 2022
Four years in a row, back when it started in 2019, Ganga Quest has made a huge progress not just in terms of participation numbers and its spatial presence but also in terms of awareness amongst the participants. Hosting Ganga Quest on CLAP (Continuous Learning & Activity Portal) this year was exciting and a great achievement. The enthusiasm shown and participation received on the portal this year has been commendable.
